Statistics clearly indicate that youth fall into more delinquent activities from 3p.m. to 6 p.m. on school days than other time of the week. This is primarily due to lack of supervision and peer pressure. The best way to prevent your child from becoming involved in delinquent activities is enroll him/her in a viable after school program. NIYAAA provides quality adult supervision, educational, and cultural enrichment activities that build self-esteem and character in our attendees. Another factor adversely affecting the behavior of young African Americans is an unhealthy diet. Many popular junk foods and sweets that young people eat are full of ingredients that are known to cause diabetes, allergies and colds, hyper activity and low attention spans (A.D.D.). This is why NIYAAA’s after school program provides snacks that are healthy for both the mind (brain food) and body.
