Currently a student at San Francisco State University, Taahirah comes from a legacy of hardworking and powerful people. Her parents are well known in the community, establishing a base for her and her siblings to thrive and succeed. She started her community work in Long Beach as a young child, feeding the homeless and helping the community as best as she could. In high school, she volunteered frequently with the Oscar Grant Foundation, helping put together and organize events and spreading awareness of police brutality. She also was a part of the first NIYAAA after school program, helping middle school and high school students with tutoring and mentorship. In her last year of college, she plans to mentor and offer more services to students in order to help them “discover their purpose”.
